Lawrence GreenRESIDENT SPOTLIGHT: JEFFERY AND SHA-RON WINFIELD

Congratulations to Jeffery and Sha-Ron Winfield on graduating from CMHA’s Family Self Sufficiency (FSS) program this past August. The Winfields are no strangers to CMHA and previously were Housing Choice Voucher Program (HCVP) participants for the past 16 years. Since acquiring full-time employment and graduating from the FSS program, they are no longer HCVP participants and are renting a market value apartment on their own. Both credit the FSS program for providing the motivation, structure and support they needed to accomplish their goals.

The Winfields joined the FSS program in 2010 because they wanted to improve their credit scores as well as gain and keep full-time employment.  Both noted that they wanted to be more independent and not rely on government assistance to pay their rent. Over the course of six years through ups and downs the Winfields were able to attend the necessary workshops and get the support they needed from CMHA FSS staff to be successful.

“There was a lot of help provided,” said Mrs. Winfield. “I especially want to thank the staff for being so kind and inspirational.” After graduating and working their full-time jobs, the Winfields are now interested in home ownership.

CMHA is pleased to report the success of the Winfield Family; for more information on CMHA’s Family Self-Sufficiency Program please visit http://www.cmha.net/residentservices/familyselfsufficiency.aspx
